#42: Bake a rainbow cake.

I know my 101 in 1001 list doesn't start officially until April 1st, but I could resist making this cake. Really, I made it in celebration of finally getting to see my husband at normal hours! I found a wonderful little tutorial from Omnomicon. The 2 things I did differently, I bought my icing (rainbow chip) and I made the cake as the box says, with the oil, water & eggs.

I documented the coloring bits, because really who wants to see pictures of just eggs, water and oil sloshing around in cake mix?

After a sink full of dishes and the phase hubby affectionately (and with a girlish giggle) called "Boob Cakes".

I iced it (even with being a tub of icing short) and excitedly cut into it, with amazing results.

I will be making this again of course with more icing. Maybe I will try the time consuming cupcake version, just to save stuffing all of it in my face.

I've seen people do this kind of cake only they bake each color as a separate layer. They are real thin layers. And when they put them together it's a tall cake with lots of layers. This looks way easier and a lot of fun b'c the colors come together in a cool way. I like it. Looks very yummy!!!
